Wingu Group, a leading provider of carrier-neutral data centres in Africa, launched Phase Two of its data centre expansion in Tanzania on Tuesday.

Specialising in cloud solutions, colocation, and secure digital infrastructure, the company aims to enhance connectivity, scalability, and security for businesses in the region. This expansion strengthens Tanzania’s digital ecosystem, providing high-performance data solutions to support growing technological demands.

Increased data center capacity

The expansion introduces double the rack power, allowing businesses to run energy-intensive applications with greater efficiency. With more white space available, the facility can now accommodate additional racks, pods, and cages, making it easier for companies to scale their cloud computing, AI, and big data operations.

As a carrier-neutral data centre, Wingu Group ensures customers have flexible connectivity options, thanks to the integration of two Meet-Me-Rooms. This setup allows multiple telecom operators to interconnect freely, reducing network latency and giving businesses more choices for secure and high-speed connectivity.

Advanced security and reliable power for 24/7 uptime

Wingu Group has implemented cutting-edge biometric security systems to protect sensitive data and critical operations, ensuring high-level access control. This makes the facility one of the most secure digital infrastructure hubs in Tanzania.

Additionally, the data centre now features a fully redundant Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system, providing continuous power reliability. This enhancement minimises downtime risks, safeguarding operations for businesses that rely on stable digital infrastructure for cloud services, AI applications, and financial transactions.

Anthony Voscarides, Co-founder and CEO of Wingu Group Tanzania, stated:

“Our carrier-neutral facility is designed to support the evolving needs of modern businesses. This expansion strengthens Tanzania’s digital ecosystem, offering world-class infrastructure for companies seeking scalable and secure data solutions.”

Wingu Group’s role in Africa’s digital transformation

Wingu Group’s investment in Tanzania’s data infrastructure is part of its broader mission to accelerate digital transformation across Africa. Recently, the company launched the TO7 Technology Park in Djibouti, a $200 million project that includes a cable landing station, a state-of-the-art data centre, and an innovation hub.

With growing demand for cloud computing, AI, IoT, and 5G solutions, Wingu Group is setting the foundation for faster, more secure, and scalable digital services across Africa, ensuring that businesses can thrive in the new era of digital connectivity.
