This action took place at an inaugural Glovo Academy edition in Kampala, Uganda, hosted by Glovo.
This first cohort marked a major turning point in Glovo’s commitment to the Ugandan market, offering a range of workshops and seminars on topics such as digital food marketing, business innovation, operational efficiency, and development tools.
Additionally, participants had the opportunity to network with other business owners and professionals in Kampala, fostering cooperation and knowledge sharing.
“Launching the first-ever Glovo Academy in Uganda is a testament to our deep commitment to this market,” said Ivy Maingi, General Manager for Glovo Uganda.
“We recognise that Ugandan entrepreneurs are incredibly resilient, and our goal is to bridge the gap between traditional business models and the digital economy. By providing these essential tools and insights, we are not just facilitating deliveries; we are empowering local SMEs to scale efficiently and compete at a world-class level.”
Practical use of Glovo’s digital tools
The practical application of Glovo’s digital tools was a fundamental part of the training. Restaurant owners gained knowledge about how to use the Sunmi device effectively, monitor orders and delivery schedules, and use the platform to expand their clientele. To enable participants to make decisions that promote long-term growth, financial planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making were also emphasised.
“The most valuable part of the Academy was realising that we are not operating in silos. Connecting with other restaurant owners and learning best practices has immediately smoothed out our operations. We walked away with a clear strategy on how to reduce our preparation times and manage our costs better, which is crucial for our survival and growth in this economy,” said Denis Duke Wonaila from Sungura House.
Significance of Glovo’s empowerment
Additionally, the training encourages participants to work together. Through networking events, restaurant owners can exchange ideas, share experiences, and develop solutions to the problems they face. This peer-to-peer learning element fosters knowledge exchange within Kampala’s expanding food industry and fortifies community ties.
The programme promotes strategic growth planning, in addition to immediate operational improvements. To boost revenue, participants must learn how to create successful promotions, analyse consumer behaviours, and make data-driven decisions.
Glovo assists restaurant partners in developing robust, scalable companies by fusing short-term performance improvements with long-term planning.
This first edition’s successful delivery demonstrates Glovo’s function as more than just a platform. Glovo enhances the local food ecosystem, fosters the expansion of small businesses, and guarantees a superior experience for clients throughout Uganda by fusing technology with appropriate education.
