Driving Youth-Led Innovation

At its core, the PRIMA Young Innovators Award 2026 seeks to highlight individuals who have directly designed and implemented solutions aligned with PRIMA’s mission. According to the official call, the award aims to “recognise young innovators who have personally led or significantly contributed to the conception and implementation of a solution aligned with PRIMA’s mission.”

Beyond recognition, the programme promotes youth leadership and problem-solving capacity in addressing pressing Mediterranean challenges. From addressing water scarcity to advancing sustainable agriculture, applicants are expected to demonstrate how their innovations address real societal, environmental, and economic needs in their local contexts.

The award also emphasises measurable outcomes. Applicants must show either proven impact or credible projections tied to environmental sustainability, improved livelihoods, or social inclusion.

Focus on Impact and Scalability

A defining feature of the PRIMA Young Innovators Award 2026 is its focus on scalability and replication. The initiative encourages solutions that can extend beyond pilot phases and inspire broader adoption across the region.

In addition, the award promotes youth empowerment through mentorship and inspiration. The programme gives special attention to women innovators, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive participation in innovation ecosystems.

Eligible sectors include agribusiness, agritech, community water systems, food production, and water, sanitation, and hygiene. These areas reflect ongoing priorities in the Mediterranean, where resource management and sustainable food systems remain urgent concerns.

Transparent Selection and €10,000 Prizes

The PRIMA Young Innovators Award 2026 will be granted through a structured contest process, guided by the Rules of Contest published on the PRIMA website. The evaluation process is designed to ensure transparency and fairness, with applications assessed based on impact, relevance, and leadership.

The two top-ranked applicants will each receive a €10,000 recognition prize. The organisers clarify that the prizes “are not category-based, are not designated as first and second prizes, and cannot be split, combined, or reallocated.”

In addition to financial support, awardees will gain visibility through media coverage, public recognition, and access to networking opportunities within the PRIMA community.

Applications for the PRIMA Young Innovators Award 2026 close on May 28, with strong interest expected from across the target countries as young leaders continue to drive solutions for a more sustainable Mediterranean region.
