The Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems has announced the third edition of the initiative, offering a ₦200 million grant pool to support promising agribusinesses and agritech ventures working to improve food production and supply nationwide.

The programme invites startups, entrepreneurs and innovators to present practical solutions that can strengthen food systems while creating jobs and boosting agricultural productivity. Beyond financial support, successful applicants will receive mentorship, business development guidance, technical training and opportunities to connect with investors and industry leaders.

Focus on Practical Agricultural Innovation

Lagos Agrithon 2026 welcomes ideas across several areas of agriculture and food systems. These include sustainable farming, food production and processing, precision agriculture, agri-fintech, logistics, supply chain management, and climate-smart technologies.

Organisers say the programme aims to encourage solutions that reduce post-harvest losses, improve efficiency, strengthen market access and expand financial inclusion for farmers and agribusinesses. Participants are expected to present projects with clear commercial potential and measurable social impact.

₦200 Million Fund Available

Selected participants will compete for a share of the ₦200 million Agrinnovation Fund, one of the largest funding pools for agricultural innovation in Nigeria. The support will help winning businesses expand their operations, improve their products and reach more customers.

According to the Lagos State Government, the Agrithon programme also seeks to encourage collaboration between innovators, investors, researchers and policymakers while helping young businesses overcome barriers such as limited access to finance and technical support.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to agritech startups, youth-led enterprises, innovators and businesses developing solutions across the agricultural value chain. Interested applicants must submit proposals that address real challenges affecting agriculture and food systems.

Applications opened on 19 June 2026 and will close on 19 July 2026. Successful candidates will progress through screening, mentorship and pitching stages before the final selection of grant recipients.

The Lagos State Government says the initiative builds on the achievements of previous editions, which supported dozens of agripreneurs with funding and business support. Officials believe the latest edition will strengthen innovation in agriculture while encouraging more young people to build businesses that improve food security and economic growth across Nigeria.
