The event builds on its inaugural edition, which drew about 1,000 participants and delegates from more than 30 countries, underscoring growing interest in Africa’s AI ecosystem.

This year’s programme will expand to include masterclasses, policy roundtables, and networking sessions to strengthen collaboration between public- and private-sector players.

Focus on Ethical AI and Skills Development

The 2026 summit focuses on scaling Africa’s ethical AI ecosystem through youth empowerment, partnerships, and skills development.

Organisers plan to spotlight initiatives that support talent development, including mentorship programmes and AI-focused training sessions designed to equip young professionals with practical skills.

Policy discussions will also feature prominently, with government officials and industry leaders expected to engage in dialogues on regulation, governance, and responsible AI deployment across the continent.

Spotlight on Tourism and the Experience Economy

One of the standout themes for this year’s edition is the role of AI in transforming the tourism and hospitality sectors, which are increasingly influenced by digital technologies.

Industry insights suggest that artificial intelligence is already reshaping travel planning and customer experience, with about 60% of tourists using AI tools to manage their journeys.

Advisory member Kwakye Donkor highlighted the sector’s potential, stating, “Tourism is Africa’s competitive advantage, but AI is the equaliser.”

Expanding Partnerships and Investment Opportunities

The summit is also expected to serve as a platform for investment and cross-border collaboration, with an enhanced AI pitch competition and increased opportunities for startups to connect with investors.

Organisers have maintained free participation to broaden access, encouraging attendance from startups, academics, civil society groups, and global technology firms.

As preparations continue, the Pan African AI & Innovation Summit is positioning itself as a key forum for shaping how artificial intelligence is developed and applied across Africa, bringing together ideas, talent, and capital under one roof.
