Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, a renowned Ghanaian business leader, has recently launched a new technology company called Brainwave Africa Tech.

This venture marks another milestone in her illustrious career, which spans over two decades in the financial services and technology sectors across Africa and Europe. Before founding Brainwave Africa Tech, Angela held key leadership positions at prominent organisations such as IBM and Microsoft.

Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh’s career highlights and achievements

Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh is celebrated for her groundbreaking achievements in the technology industry. She made history as the first woman and African to serve as Regional Head/CEO for IBM North, East, and West Africa. In this role, she led the organisation’s business and strategy across 35 countries, driving growth and transformation for clients.

Angela also served as the Country General Manager for IBM Ghana, becoming Africa’s first female country manager. Her tenure at IBM included various roles, such as Marketing Lead for West Africa and Strategy Lead for Central, East, and West Africa.

Angela’s journey in the technology sector includes her role as Microsoft’s Strategic Partnership Lead for Africa.

She was appointed to this position in January 2022 as part of Microsoft’s new Africa Transformation Office (ATO), which focuses on digital infrastructure, skills development, SMEs, and startups. Angela is a strong advocate for women’s empowerment and actively mentors women in the corporate sector.

Empowering the next generation

Kyerematen-Jimoh is focused on digital transformation and empowering the next generation. She is launching the AI Explorers Club, which offers AI training for children aged 8 to 15 every Friday and Saturday. This initiative reflects her belief in preparing children early for the evolving AI landscape.

She noted, “AI is here to stay, and the sooner we prepare them, the better”. Her dedication to empowering women and supporting underprivileged communities in Ghana further underscores her commitment to creating a lasting impact beyond the tech sector.

The announcement of Brainwave Africa Tech on March 8, 2025, marked a new direction for Kyerematen-Jimoh, who shared, “I got to a point in my career where I needed a new direction. The Holy Spirit was very clear—it was time for me to start my own company”. With her company’s mission and her projects, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh continues to inspire and lead in the tech industry.
