Globacom, a telecom provider in Nigeria, has introduced an embedded SIM (e-SIM) service that enables users to connect to its network without a physical SIM card.

In a statement released on Sunday, the business announced the launch and highlighted a 5GB data incentive for those who activate the e-SIM with a data plan that costs at least N1,500.

By doing away with the necessity for a physical SIM card, the eSIM—a software-based digital chip integrated into smartphones and wearable technology—allows for smooth number switching.

According to Globacom, the technology is perfect for professionals and frequent travellers who need several lines without having to carry around different SIM cards.

Benefits of Globacom’s e-SIM

The company pointed out that increased security is one of the main benefits of the e-SIM because it is more difficult to remove from a device than regular SIM cards.

The eSIM is also eco-friendly, contributing to the decrease in plastic waste that comes with traditional SIM cards.

“With this launch, we are reinforcing our commitment to providing future-ready services to our customers,” Globacom stated. “The eSIM offers high-net-worth individuals and enterprise customers a seamless digital experience while also making it easier for users on other networks to join the Glo family.”

How to activate Globacom’s e-SIM

The e-SIM service is available to current Glo customers, and new users from other networks can activate a second SIM card on their handsets.

On mobile phones, consumers can enter *#06# to see if their device is compatible. When the device displays an EID (Embedded Identity Document) number, it is compatible with e-SIM technology.

“The customer can then proceed to the nearest Gloworld shop or Glo dealer outlet to migrate to e-SIM,” the company’s marketing team stated.

“The process takes only a few minutes, after which the customer can begin enjoying the benefits of an eSIM.”

200% free data on Globacom’s MiFi devices

A 200 percent data value return offer was announced by Globacom for customers who buy MiFi devices at Gloworld stores in Nigeria.

According to a statement released by the business last week, new MiFi users who use new Glo SIMs are eligible for the offer.

The MiFi devices cost N14,999 and are available at Gloworld stores, which are the company’s retail locations nationwide.

Customers will receive 30GB of data upon activation, which is good for 30 days, along with a 100 percent data bonus on all data plan purchases for four months, according to Globacom.

At N2,500 or more, consumers will also receive 2.5GB of bonus data each month for a total of 12 months.

According to the manufacturer, the Glo MiFi’s long-lasting built-in battery enables users to connect numerous devices, exchange data with friends, and maintain signal strength.

The gadget also provides smooth video calls, faster streaming, faster downloads, and improved gaming experiences, it stated.

Globacom encouraged consumers to take advantage of the promotion by visiting any Gloworld location.
