With Yango’s departure, Congo-Brazzaville’s digital transport sector left a gap that this move fills, leveraging new $30 million Series B funding. With the app’s release, an ambitious expansion is underway to modernise digital financial access and urban transportation in the capital city.

Gozem’s $30M funding sparks expansion in Congo-Brazzaville

Gozem concluded a $30 million Series B investment round in early 2025, which included debt and equity from partners such as Al Mada Ventures and SAS Shipping Agencies Services Sàrl (a division of MSC Group).

Co-founders Gregory Costamagna and Raphael Dana claim that the funding will boost Gozem’s vehicle fleet, expand the company’s regional reach, and hasten the launch of digital banking services through the Gozem Money platform. To expand operations from their strongholds in Togo, Benin, Gabon, and Cameroon into Congo-Brazzaville, this funding is essential.

“Gozem is excited to work with MSC Group and Al Mada Ventures, leveraging their expertise to scale our super app and enter new markets,” the founders said. “This funding solidifies our vision to enhance mobility and financial inclusion across West and Central Africa.”

MSC Group President Diego Aponte underscored this by stating, “Gozem shares our commitment to innovative mobility and logistics solutions in Africa, and we look forward to supporting their continued success.” With this funding, Gozem plans to invest in new vehicles and digital infrastructure critical for service quality and driver empowerment.

Filling the gap left by Yango’s departure

Yango, a UAE-based tech startup and Brazzaville’s popular ride-hailing app, shut down, leaving Congo’s digital transportation market gaping.

Gozem fills this gap by providing a digital platform with geo-localised “green” taxis, air-conditioned vehicles, and rentals that support driver earnings and safety with geolocation and digital payments.

The transition couldn’t be timelier; Congo-Brazzaville’s mobility digitisation is still emerging, creating high demand for effective and reliable transport solutions. Gozem’s introduction gives Brazzaville’s users modern, efficient transport and allows “Champions,” or drivers, to capitalise on new earning prospects through vehicle finance and app-based support. This strategic market entry could transform the city’s digital transportation.

By leveraging fresh capital and filling Yango’s exit gap, Gozem positions itself to become Brazzaville’s leading transport super app, energised by its broader mission to enhance digital financial services and infrastructure across Francophone Africa.
