GTA VI is expected to set new record

GTA V, released in 2013, generated more than $1 billion in sales within its first three days and remains one of the best-selling video games of all time. With the new launch, the game is expected to set new records when it launches in November.

Retail listings in Europe suggest GTA VI could arrive in multiple editions, including Standard, Premium, and Collector’s versions. While Rockstar has yet to confirm the final package details, the listings indicate the company is preparing a broad commercial strategy ahead of launch.

The title is being built exclusively for current-generation consoles, including the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players are expected to benefit from faster SSD loading, enhanced graphics performance, and platform-specific features such as DualSense controller support on PS5.

The renewed excitement follows last week’s cover art reveal, which showcased several elements expected to feature prominently in the game, including speedboats, supercars, helicopters, alligators, and flamingos.

The artwork centres on protagonists Jason and Lucia and offers another glimpse into Rockstar’s version of Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. The reveal has also reignited speculation about a potential third GTA VI trailer, although Rockstar has not announced any new marketing releases.

Why GTA VI could become gaming’s biggest launch yet

For parent company Take-Two Interactive, GTA VI represents more than a game release. The title is expected to be a major revenue driver over the coming years, helping shape the publisher’s financial performance and broader strategy in an industry facing rising development costs and increasing competition for player attention.

Reports estimate that Rockstar spent more than a decade developing GTA VI, with development costs exceeding $2 billion, though the company has not publicly confirmed those figures. Even so, it is still expected that the game will become one of the largest entertainment products of the decade.

With pre-orders opening tomorrow, Rockstar is entering the next phase of a launch cycle that has already captured global attention long before players get their hands on the finished product.
