The free acceleration programme will support promising founders with intensive training, mentorship, and investor engagement, and three winning startups will travel to Italy for a fully funded roadshow.
Programme Connects East Africa with Europe
H.E.R.O., short for Harmonic Euro-African Ramp-up Orbit, is promoted by Harmonic Innovation Group and organised by BeEntrepreneurs APS. The initiative aims to strengthen links between East African innovators and European investors, mentors and corporate partners by helping startups prepare for international expansion.
The programme focuses on startups with practical solutions across sectors such as AgriTech, HealthTech, FinTech, EdTech, CleanTech, logistics, tourism and the blue economy. Organisers say the goal is to equip founders with the knowledge, networks and exposure needed to grow beyond their home markets while building lasting relationships across both regions.
Bootcamp and Investor Access Await Selected Founders
Applications remain open until 8 July 2026. Following the selection process, 20 startups will be invited to a residential bootcamp in Nairobi from 3 to 7 August 2026. During the programme, founders will participate in practical workshops covering business modelling, fundraising, market entry strategies, financial planning and investor pitching.
Participants will also receive one-to-one mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts from Kenya, Italy and other European countries. Networking sessions and investor panels will provide opportunities to engage directly with venture capital firms and business leaders interested in African innovation.
The bootcamp will conclude with a Demo Day at the Residence of the Italian Ambassador in Nairobi, where shortlisted startups will present their businesses before a panel of investors, corporate representatives and ecosystem leaders. Three winning teams will earn a place on an Italian roadshow scheduled for November 2026.
Eligibility and Key Benefits
The programme is open to incorporated startups operating primarily in East Africa. Applicants must have a working product or a validated prototype and be at either the pre-revenue or early revenue stage. All team members must be at least 18 years old, while diverse founding teams are encouraged to apply.
The three winning startups will receive a fully funded five-day visit to Italy, including stops in Catanzaro, Rome and Milan. The itinerary features tailored meetings with venture capital firms, angel investors and corporate partners, alongside opportunities to present their businesses at innovation events. Flights, accommodation, meals and logistics will be covered by the organisers.
According to the organisers, H.E.R.O. is intended to provide more than a short-term acceleration programme. Participating startups will continue to connect with mentors, investors, and business partners through the Harmonic Innovation ecosystem, helping founders pursue long-term growth beyond the programme.
