Hazelight Studios has announced that It has sold over 20 million copies of  It Takes Two since the game was released in 2021, reminding us of the significance of co-op gaming.

This game, released slightly more than three years ago, has since remained the unchallenged leader on the charts owing to the superb acting and the somewhat unusual game mechanics.

Hazelight Studios’ wins continue

Currently, It Takes Two is in the long run in the market, and this is because it was specially designed to support two players. Most games hit problems post-launch, but It Takes Two is still building from strength to strength, backed by word-of-mouth and social media, critical acclaim and a string of awards from major bodies such as The Game Awards and the BAFTAs.

Of course, one of the most appealing aspects of this game is not just the co-op capabilities involved. Still, studio lead Josef Fares is on an AMG record when he claimed he’d personally pay $1,000 to anyone who would find the game boring, and it looks like this is one bet he’s unlikely to lose.

While fans wait for Hazelight’s next game, Fares hinted at a new IP and another experience in EA Originals.

What will Hazelight Studios do next?

The fun does not stop there. As It Takes Two continues to rise in popularity, a movie based on the story is planned, with Dwayne Johnson among the producers. On the other hand, the details of Fares’ upcoming IP are still unknown, but there’s high anticipation already on the internet.

The success ensures that Hazelight Studios stays at the forefront of co-op gaming, and it will be worth waiting to see what their next game looks like. One thing is clear, in this article, Hazelight Studios has proven that they are indeed becoming the next big thing in designing games that allow players to have shared experiences.
