According to the Foundry, fellows will take part in mentorship programmes, policy discussions, collaborative projects, networking sessions, and committee work to strengthen expertise in digital governance and emerging technologies.

The programme is remote, although regional gatherings and participation in major policy events may take place during the fellowship period. Fellows are expected to contribute between three and five hours weekly to committee activities and organisational projects.

Focus on Internet Governance and AI Policy

The fellowship comes at a time when governments and technology companies are facing mounting pressure over online safety, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence regulation, and privacy protection.

Applicants with interests in artificial intelligence governance, platform accountability, telecommunications policy, cybersecurity, digital trade, online safety, and content moderation are encouraged to apply.

The Foundry says the programme seeks individuals capable of bridging the gap between technology and public policy. Fellows will also gain exposure to publishing opportunities, event management, strategic communications, and policy research.

Participants must rank their preferred committee assignments during the application process. Available committees include editorial and content, communications and marketing, events and fundraising, and podcast production.

Growing Demand for Digital Policy Experts

Interest in internet governance and technology regulation has increased sharply in recent years as artificial intelligence tools and digital platforms continue to expand globally.

Research from Stanford University’s Centre for Research on Foundation Models highlights the growing need for interdisciplinary collaboration among technology experts, legal professionals, and policymakers to address the societal impact of advanced AI systems.

The Internet Law and Policy Foundry says its fellowship aims to prepare professionals for those discussions by building practical experience and stronger international networks.

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submissions are encouraged. Candidates must submit a résumé or CV along with written responses outlining their professional interests, leadership experience, and contributions to diversity in technology policy discussions.
