Mastercard Foundation is set to organise an educational technology (EdTech) conference from Monday, 8th July to Wednesday, 10th July 2024. Young African innovators, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and other stakeholders are expected to come together at the EdTech Conference 2024 to push the development of equitable digital learning platforms for everyone. The conference, which will take place in Abuja, will be streamed live through https://ow.ly/MTio50SwgbN

The objectives of the EdTech Conference are to raise awareness about how EdTech can be used to solve learning difficulties, determine the obstacles and possibilities in building tech-driven, resilient education systems in Africa, lay the foundation for policymaking by getting important parties to commit to specific, quantifiable objectives, and examine cutting-edge EdTech options and encourage the exchange of best practices.

“One way to close access, inclusivity, and learning gaps in African education systems is to invest in EdTech solutions created by African entrepreneurs and tech specialists. But before creating a roadmap, it’s important to take into account the opportunities and difficulties so that quantifiable objectives and frameworks for policy may be set in place to guarantee success.” The Foundation stated on its platforms.

Expectations from the conference

The conference is expected to identify and record the learning obstacles faced by young people, coordinate the state of the action’s emphasis in the African EdTech ecosystem, and increase awareness of EdTech’s capacity to address issues with learning accessibility. In addition to showcasing cutting-edge EdTech solutions and encouraging the exchange of best practices, the conference will highlight the main obstacles and opportunities facing the development of robust education systems in Africa.

The goal of the conference is to set a baseline for commitment to specific, quantifiable objectives that must be accomplished by 2026. Before the next conference in 2026, each represented nation will list three to five things it plans to advance. Progress reports will be given during the 2026 summit to keep countries responsible.
