Mirepa Investment Advisors closed a private equity investment in Accra-based Uniik Foods through its SME private equity vehicle, Mirepa Capital SME Fund I, deploying patient capital to modernise production infrastructure and unlock export-grade manufacturing output.
How SME Fund capital is upgrading Uniik Foods’ production tech
Uniik Foods produces shelf-stable organic African food products, including palm nut paste, fufu mix, and garden eggplant. These are not niche novelty items. They are West African staples now being scaled with private equity-backed technology for global retail distribution.
The company plans to expand across local and international markets in the United States, the UK, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East. Reaching five major markets across four continents demands more than ambition. It requires upgraded production systems, export-ready capacity, and distribution infrastructure capable of handling diaspora-scale demand.
The Mirepa Capital SME Fund I investment addresses all three. The capital will enable Uniik Foods to modernise its production infrastructure, expand manufacturing capacity, and strengthen its distribution and export operations.
Philip Danquah, Chief Investment Officer of Mirepa Investment Advisors, explained what separated Uniik Foods from other SME Fund investment targets. “Mirepa is proud to partner with a local team that has demonstrated the capability of building a scalable indigenous business, serving both local consumers and diaspora communities with products that resonate culturally. This investment reinforces Mirepa’s commitment to backing high-growth SMEs, which drive local production for domestic and export markets,” Danquah said.
Uniik Foods eyes global organic food markets with Mirepa backing
Joseph Amankwah, CEO and Co-Founder of Uniik Foods, described the Mirepa Capital SME Fund I deal as a direct enabler of the company’s global mission to expand organic food access. “This partnership with Mirepa accelerates our ability to invest in modern infrastructure and expand our reach. Our mission is to make authentic African food products readily accessible to our communities wherever they are, and this investment brings us closer to delivering on that promise,” Amankwah said.
