The telecom giant announced the 2026 edition of its 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign, which runs from June 1 to 21. Now in its 19th year, the employee volunteerism initiative will focus on expanding access to quality healthcare through practical, community-led interventions across its markets.

This year’s theme, “Expand Equitable Health for Every Community,” reflects the reality that health is not only a social imperative, but is a foundation for resilience, productivity, and stability.

Digital Health Push

MTN staff will implement practical initiatives including repairing and donating hospital beds, conducting health outreach programmes, launching digital health education campaigns, enabling telemedicine services, and organising public health screenings to address the growing burden of non-communicable diseases.

According to MTN Group, the campaign’s healthcare focus comes amid concerns over the spread of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda. MTN Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer Nompilo Morafo said the situation highlights the need for coordinated action across the continent.

“Health risks do not stop at borders. This reminds us that Africa’s future will be shaped by our ability to act together early, decisively, and at scale,” Morafo said.

Powered by Connectivity

Over the past six years, more than 14,000 volunteers have participated in the Y’ello Care campaign, contributing over 56,000 hours of community service and reaching more than 107,000 people.

Adwoa Wiafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, explained how the company intends to support healthcare delivery through its technology and network infrastructure.

“MTN is uniquely positioned to help scale equitable healthcare access across Ghana through the power of connectivity, digital innovation, and strategic partnerships. Through Y’ello Care 2026, we are leveraging these capabilities to help communities access healthcare services that are more inclusive, responsive, and sustainable,” she said.

MTN added that digital tools, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, can improve diagnostics, healthcare access, and disease surveillance across underserved communities where the 2026 campaign will concentrate its efforts.
