Keep reading for the full breakdown on AI funding — everything you need to know is covered below.

The programme, launched in partnership with the Global Ovarian Cancer Research Consortium, aims to support collaborative projects that apply AI tools to improve ovarian cancer diagnosis, treatment, survival prediction, and patient care. The initiative also includes up to $1 million in Microsoft Azure compute support through Microsoft’s AI for Good Lab.

Global Researchers Encouraged to Apply

According to OCRA, the grant is open to educational institutions, non-profit research centres, universities, hospitals, and scientific institutes worldwide. For-profit entities and consulting firms are not eligible for funding.

Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent doctoral qualification at the time of submission. Researchers currently enrolled in training programmes such as postdoctoral fellowships are excluded from the competition.

The programme requires a collaborative international research structure. Teams are expected to include senior investigators from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. One principal investigator must be appointed to lead the project.

Funding Targets AI-Driven Ovarian Cancer Research

OCRA said the grant will support projects that use artificial intelligence and machine learning to address challenges linked to ovarian cancer research and patient outcomes. The organisation believes that global data sharing and AI analysis can accelerate discoveries and improve treatment decisions.

The inaugural AI Accelerator Grant, awarded earlier this year, attracted 21 applications from research teams across several countries. The winning project focused on predicting treatment response and survival outcomes for patients with high-grade serous ovarian cancer using AI-powered biomarker analysis.

OCRA noted that the collaboration with Microsoft’s AI for Good Lab will allow researchers to analyse large international datasets at a scale previously unavailable to many institutions.

Key Deadlines and Application Process

Interested applicants must submit a letter of intent through OCRA’s SmartSimple grant management portal before June 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM Eastern Time. The organisation stated that late submissions and deadline extensions will not be accepted.

Researchers shortlisted after the initial review stage will be invited to submit full proposals later in the year. Funding decisions are expected to be announced in November 2026, while selected projects are scheduled to begin in 2027.

Applicants are also required to follow NIH formatting standards, including using an 11-point font and a minimum half-inch page margin. OCRA permits indirect costs of up to 10 per cent and allows limited travel budgeting within grant proposals.
