In the heart of Africa’s bustling fintech landscape stands a visionary leader, Olugbenga Agboola, also known as “GB”, a Nigerian software engineer and entrepreneur.
As the co-founder and CEO of Flutterwave, born in 1985, Agboola embodies innovation and determination in revolutionising financial services across the continent.

About the CEO of Flutterwave

Agboola is an MBA program graduate at MIT Sloan School of Management. His standard IT security certifications came from Albuquerque, New Mexico’s EC-Council University. Following that, he graduated with a degree in Advanced Computing and Project Management from the University of Westminster in London, UK. In November 2012, he began and finished the Fundamentals of Finance for The Technical Executive, which advanced his academic path. Gbenga created a Leading Edge Operations Plan in April 2013.

He participated in the Essential IT for Non-IT Executives training and the Supply Chain Strategy and Management program in November 2014. During this instruction, he learned how to use development tools. In addition, Olugbenga Agboola studied server administration, agent management systems, ethical hacking, JavaScript, PHP, PHP Apps, product innovation, product life cycle management, product management, and retail banking.
Before founding Flutterwave with Iyinoluwa Aboyeji in 2016, he worked as an application engineer at the renowned Paypal and in product management at Google.

Listed on Fortune’s 40 under 40 2020 list, He also appeared in Time’s Next 100 list in 2021, and in April 2022, Agboola received the tech investor of the year award in the Business Insider Africa awards.

Agboola was decorated by President Muhammadu Buhari with Nigeria’s National Honour Medal of the Officer of the Order of Niger (OON) in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of technology, innovations and economic development. He was awarded the honour alongside Exceptional personalities like Ameyo Adadevoh, Abubakar Abdullahi, Tony Elumelu, Jim Ovia, and others.
