A Global Remote Opportunity

The internship is entirely home-based, allowing participants to work from anywhere while collaborating with international teams. It runs for an initial duration of three months and is typically full-time, though some flexibility may be offered depending on project needs.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until September 30, 2026, with multiple start dates throughout the year. Early applications are strongly encouraged due to the programme’s competitive nature.

Driving Innovation Through Technology

Hosted under UNDP’s Digital, AI and Innovation (DAI) Hub, the internship gives participants direct exposure to cutting-edge digital transformation initiatives.

The hub plays a central role in advancing inclusive digitalisation, data systems, and AI-driven solutions across UNDP’s global operations.

Interns may contribute to a wide range of activities, including developing digital products, supporting AI-driven projects, conducting research on data governance, and producing policy briefs. They may also assist in designing tools, analysing datasets, and supporting partnerships with governments, tech firms, and development organisations.

Skills Development and Global Exposure

Beyond technical experience, the internship offers participants a platform to build skills in policy development, data analysis, strategic communication, and international collaboration. Interns gain hands-on experience working within a multilateral organisation and contribute to knowledge products, training materials, and innovation strategies.

The programme is open to students in the final year of their undergraduate studies, graduate students, or recent graduates who can begin the internship within a year of completing their degree. Fluency in English is required, while additional language skills are considered an advantage.

Preparing Future Tech and Policy Leaders

As global development becomes increasingly driven by data and emerging technologies, UNDP’s internship aims to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills needed to navigate this evolving landscape. By combining practical experience with exposure to global policy processes, the initiative provides a launchpad for careers in technology, governance, and international development.

With its remote structure, global reach, and focus on innovation, the Digital, AI and Innovation Internship 2026 stands out as a significant opportunity for young professionals seeking to make an impact at the intersection of technology and sustainable development.
