Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp, made public its plans to revamp the look of its platform on May 9, 2024, to maintain an air of modern simplicity and friendliness.

To achieve this, the company has implemented numerous changes, the most prominent of which is a new colour palette. In addition to a more uniform green colour scheme, Meta boasts that it has upped its use of neutral colours, allowing it to be pickier about placing green elements inside the app.

Over the years, WhatsApp’s design has undergone multiple revisions, the most recent of which was in 2021. The app has been updated again by the company. The iOS and Android apps have received some updates already, but there are also some new additions.

The new designs for WhatsApp

The app’s dark mode is also receiving an upgrade. Due to WhatsApp’s increased contrast and deeper tones, the dark mode is now darker and less straining on the eyes.

These colour changes appear as part of a more significant update that includes new icons, illustrations, and the chat background. There are now more whimsical animations in the illustrations and a more rounded, outlined style for the icons. On the other hand, the team has updated the doodle that is used as the default background for chats.

Both the Android and iOS versions of the app will reflect these updates. Each will have access to a select few new features. An updated attachment layout with an expandable tray for sharing documents, polls, media, and more will be available only on iOS. Regarding Android, a menu bar has been added to the bottom.

By including this bar, WhatsApp claims it was able to design chat filters to appear at the top of the chats list, enabling users to swiftly locate conversations without sifting through their entire inbox.

To better serve its users, WhatsApp is always in the process of improving and updating its design. New improvements and updates to the design include:

WhatsApp has updated its chat bubbles with a sleeker, more contemporary style.

A new dark mode is available in WhatsApp; this choice transforms the app’s backdrop colour to a darker shade, making it easier on the eyes.

WhatsApp now has a fingerprint lock feature that adds additional protection.

WhatsApp has made it easier to manage group discussions with features like participant controls and group descriptions.

WhatsApp’s privacy settings have been significantly improved, letting users manage who can view their online status, profile picture, and other personal information.

WhatsApp’s emoji and sticker packs are updated frequently, giving users more options to express themselves.

Buying things within the app: WhatsApp now includes shopping capabilities, so users may buy things without leaving the app.

Support for several accounts: With the latest update, WhatsApp lets users switch between several accounts.

WhatsApp’s settings menu has been redesigned to make accessing and customising the program more accessible.

The app has upgraded its video and audio calling capabilities, providing higher quality and functionality.

You should know that the design modifications can seem different on different devices and operating systems.
