Three Funding Tracks Available

AWS Imagine Grant 2026 features three award categories tailored to nonprofits at different stages of technology adoption.

The Pathfinder Award targets organisations developing advanced AI projects involving generative AI, agentic AI, or autonomous systems. Successful applicants can receive up to $200,000 in funding and up to $100,000 in AWS cloud credits. AWS says the category is aimed at nonprofits already building strong data practices and preparing scalable AI solutions.

The Go Further, Faster Award focuses on cloud-based innovation projects using tools such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, high-performance computing, and Internet of Things technologies. Selected nonprofits may receive up to $150,000 in unrestricted support and additional AWS technical assistance.

Meanwhile, the Momentum to Modernise Award supports organisations seeking to migrate systems to the cloud, improve applications, or modernise databases and infrastructure. Grants in this category can reach $50,000, along with AWS promotional credits and implementation guidance.

Who Can Apply

According to AWS, the programme is open to non-profit organisations with registered 501(c) status in the United States. Eligible groups include 501(c)(3) charities, public utility organisations, and credit unions. Organisations of all budget sizes are welcome to apply.

Educational institutions are excluded from the programme’s priority areas for 2026. AWS also noted that applicants serving communities outside the United States may still qualify if the organisation itself is registered in the US.

Focus on AI and Cloud Innovation

AWS says the programme seeks projects that place technology at the centre of mission delivery. Proposals are expected to show measurable outcomes, practical use of AWS services, and clear implementation plans.

The company has steadily expanded the programme over the years. In December 2025, AWS announced that more than $21 million in grants and technical resources had been distributed to non-profit organisations globally since the initiative launched in 2018.

Application Deadline and Selection Criteria

Applications for the AWS Imagine Grant 2026 remain open until June 5. AWS says proposals will be judged on innovation, impact on mission goals, clarity of outcomes, and the suitability of AWS tools within the project scope.

Interested nonprofits can access application guidelines and submission details through the official AWS Imagine Grant portal.
