YouthHubAfrica has announced a new call for applications for its Young Social Media Advocates Programme, inviting young people to use digital platforms to raise awareness, foster civic engagement, and drive community action across the continent.

The programme seeks to build a network of young advocates who can harness social media as a tool for public education, storytelling and social change. Participants will receive training, mentorship and practical guidance on how to create compelling content, engage audiences responsibly and amplify conversations around development issues affecting young people.

Empowering Young Voices Online

YouthHubAfrica, a youth-focused advocacy and policy organisation headquartered in Abuja, has spent more than a decade supporting young Africans through leadership development, policy engagement and digital advocacy initiatives. The organisation says young people remain at the heart of Africa’s development agenda and should play an active role in shaping public discourse.

Through the Young Social Media Advocates Programme, selected participants will gain practical knowledge on strategic communication, digital campaigning and responsible online engagement. The initiative also aims to strengthen participants’ ability to communicate evidence-based messages and mobilise communities around issues that matter to young people.

Building Advocacy Skills for Social Change

According to information released by YouthHubAfrica, the programme focuses on equipping participants with the skills and resources needed to share information effectively within their communities and online networks. Advocates will learn how to use digital platforms to raise awareness, tell impact stories and connect with stakeholders who can support social development efforts.

The initiative reflects the growing role of social media in influencing public conversations and encouraging civic participation. By strengthening young people’s communication skills, the programme hopes to foster a new generation of digital advocates capable of promoting informed discussions and positive action.

Who Should Apply?

The opportunity is open to young Africans who are active on social media and have a strong interest in advocacy, community engagement and development issues. Applicants with experience creating online content, leading conversations or participating in social impact campaigns are expected to benefit most from the programme.

Successful candidates will join a growing network of youth advocates working across different sectors and countries. Beyond training, participants will gain access to peer learning opportunities and connections that can support their future advocacy work.

Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their applications through YouthHubAfrica’s official channels before the stated deadline of 30th June 2026 (5 pm WAT). The organisation says the programme forms part of its broader mission to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s development.
