Applications are now open for the 2025 Global Youth Leaders Programme, an initiative of the World Internet Conference that brings together emerging digital leaders from across the globe.

The fully funded programme gives selected participants the chance to meet policymakers, technology executives, researchers, and international organisations at the annual Wuzhen Summit in China. Organisers say the initiative aims to foster a new generation of leaders capable of contributing to the future of the internet and digital cooperation worldwide.

A Platform for Emerging Digital Leaders

The Global Youth Leaders Programme is open to outstanding young professionals under the age of 45 who have demonstrated achievements in areas such as information and communication technology, digital policy, internet governance, research, entrepreneurship, and public-interest initiatives.

Participants will gain access to a global network of experts and decision makers working at the forefront of digital transformation. The programme also provides opportunities to contribute ideas on technology policy, internet development and international digital cooperation.

Since it started, the initiative has brought together professionals from dozens of countries, building a diverse community committed to advancing an open, secure, and inclusive digital future.

Fully Funded Participation in China

Successful applicants will be invited to attend the 2025 Wuzhen Summit, one of the world’s leading gatherings focused on internet development and governance. Hosted annually in Wuzhen, China, the summit welcomes government representatives, international organisations, technology companies and academic institutions from around the world.

The programme covers participation costs and offers travel support, accommodation and access to summit activities. Selected youth leaders may also have opportunities to speak at international forums and showcase their perspectives on emerging digital issues.

Beyond the summit, participants can benefit from long-term engagement opportunities, leadership development activities and professional networking through World Internet Conference platforms.

How to Apply

Candidates are expected to submit an online application, including supporting materials that demonstrate their professional achievements and leadership potential. Applications are being reviewed by an expert panel, with successful candidates expected to receive invitations ahead of the summit later in the year.

The application deadline is 25 July 2025 at 17:00 GMT+8. Young innovators, researchers, policymakers and technology professionals interested in shaping the future of the internet are encouraged to apply before the closing date.

As digital technologies shape economies, societies, and governance worldwide, the Global Youth Leaders Programme gives emerging voices a chance to participate in conversations that will guide the next chapter of global internet development.
