Joel Mirimo’s portfolio in digital payment solutions

Before launching MbiyoPay, Mirimo established Maxuschain in 2022, a mobile money platform that enables rapid cryptocurrency trading.  Maxuschain combined four blockchains and supported over 30 coins.

In August 2025, Mirimo graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in marketing and in commercial and financial sciences.  He worked as a payment agent and broker for the international financial company Deriv from 2021 until September 2025.

Additionally, from 2021 to 2024, he served as director of business development at Afgig, a 100 per cent African marketplace that connects domestic talent with international markets.

About MbiyoPay

Founded in 2023, MbiyoPay allows customers to purchase mobile credit, create virtual cards, receive money, and pay bills, all without having to transfer between different services.  By enabling users to collect payments from clients or accept transfers from individuals in a single digital environment, the platform centralises transactions and minimises fragmentation.

The app supports numerous payment options, including bank cards, cryptocurrencies, QR codes, payment links, mobile money, and its own virtual card.  MbiyoPay enables customers to make online payments on global marketplaces safely and to replenish their virtual cards.

MbiyoPay has already launched services in a number of African nations, such as Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  The app allows users to check availability in each market immediately.

Additionally, depending on the channel of choice, the platform enables users to transfer money to bank accounts, cryptocurrency wallets, or mobile money accounts.
