Under this arrangement, students use their MoMo wallet to pay the standard fare of ₦100 at the bus stop via a QR code or transfer. They get a ₦90 cashback as soon as they pay, which essentially lowers the price of each ride to just ₦10. The service runs along well-travelled university routes, such as the crowded area between the campus and the Main Gate.
Aim to alleviate students’ financial burden
MoMo PSB claims that its objective is to alleviate students’ financial burden, particularly amid the countrywide rise in transport costs. The group explains that the shuttle subsidy is part of its broader initiative to lower the cost and increase the accessibility of essential services for young Nigerians.
Because all of the shuttle buses that operate the service are electric, the partnership also broadens MoMo PSB’s sustainability initiatives. It is anticipated that Ogata’s electric vehicle fleet will lower emissions on campus while offering students more eco-friendly, quieter transportation.

Integration of electronic payments
According to Ogata Electric Vehicles, integrating with MoMo has eliminated the confusion and delays associated with cash payments. Buses load faster when payments are made electronically, and long lines move smoothly during rush hour.
The new fare structure will primarily impact students who travel frequently. Students who ride four times a day, for instance, save ₦360, or more than ₦7,000 per month. Students may use these savings to cover essential expenses like food and data.
Discount on data bundles
MoMo PSB has added two discounted data bundles to its app in addition to its transport offer. In comparison to other platforms, users can purchase 1GB for ₦200 or 2.5GB for ₦500. According to the payments company, this is part of its ongoing endeavour to lower the cost of digital access for young Nigerians.
According to the company, students who visit its social media platforms or download the MoMo PSB app from the App Store or Google Play Store can access these bundles and other services.
