The integration announced this week expands the company’s payout network and offers merchants more flexibility when transferring funds internationally.
The move adds Visa Direct for Account to the platform’s existing Visa Direct for Card capability, which now helps businesses to manage multiple payout methods through a single platform.
How the Nuvei partnership works
With the integration, businesses using Nuvei’s platform can initiate cross-border payouts via a single connection, leveraging Visa Direct’s global network to route funds to recipients.
The service combines Visa Direct for Account and Visa Direct for Card, allowing businesses to choose whether funds are delivered to a bank account or a payment card, depending on the recipient’s location and preferences.
According to Nuvei, the setup enables payouts in multiple currencies and supports a range of use cases, including supplier payments, marketplace settlements, insurance disbursements, remittances, and contractor payouts.
“Consumers everywhere expect instant access to their money, whether it is a payout, refund, or remittance,” said Phil Fayer, Chair and CEO of Nuvei. “By expanding our Visa Direct offering, we’re empowering merchants to meet those expectations with faster, more convenient, and more reliable payouts that enhance everyday financial experiences.”
Why faster cross-border B2B payments matter
Demand for faster cross-border B2B transactions has grown as businesses expand internationally and increasingly work with suppliers, freelancers, and partners across different countries.
Many companies still rely on traditional banking systems for international payouts, a process that can involve multiple intermediaries, higher costs, and longer settlement times.
By integrating Visa Direct, Nuvei aims to reduce some of that friction while giving businesses access to a wider network of payout destinations through a single platform.
Visa says its Visa Direct network reaches more than 11 billion endpoints globally, including bank accounts, cards, and digital wallets. The company processed more than 10 billion Visa Direct transactions in 2024, highlighting growing demand for real-time and near-real-time payment services.
“Meaningful progress in payouts comes from ecosystem collaboration,” said Vira Platonova, Global Head of Visa Direct. “Expanding our integration with Nuvei’s platform means we are able to help more businesses reach payees with capabilities built for scale, compliance, and operational simplicity.”
What you need to know
The partnership positions Nuvei to offer broader cross-border payout capabilities at a time when businesses are looking for faster ways to move money internationally.
For merchants and enterprises, the integration provides access to Visa Direct’s global payment rails through a single connection, reducing the complexity of managing multiple payout channels.
The announcement also reflects a broader industry trend toward faster digital payments, with payment providers investing in infrastructure to support real-time cross-border B2B transactions.
