The announcement was made at the Anambra Startup Investment and Technology Skills Graduation Ceremony in Awka, where 80 startups received funding and 400 technology professionals graduated from state-backed training programmes.
Startup Funding and Broadband Expansion
Soludo has intensified efforts to position Anambra as a leading technology and innovation hub with a combined digital investment package worth over N1.08 billion. SID disclosed that each of the 80 startups that completed the district’s 12-week incubation programme received N1 million, amounting to a total disbursement of N80 million.
“We are not waiting for Silicon Valley to come to us. We are building our own,” Soludo said.
The beneficiaries underwent rigorous training in business development, market validation, customer discovery, financial planning and investor readiness before qualifying for the funding.
Chief Executive Officer of Connekt Broadband, Mr Ifeanyi Adirika, announced a N1 billion Connectivity Fund aimed at accelerating broadband access across Anambra’s 21 local government areas. The fund will not be deployed through conventional contractor procurement but channelled through graduates of the ISP Network Engineering Programme as deployment partners and sub-licensees.
Tech Skills and Digital Economy Vision
The ceremony also marked a major skills milestone for the state, with 400 technology professionals graduating in robotics and network engineering at the Banquet Hall of the Light House, Awka.
Some of the newly trained engineers will serve as deployment partners and sub-licensees in the broadband expansion plans, while others are expected to contribute to the state’s ongoing 2,000-kilometre fibre optic rollout project.
Soludo tied the funding directly to his broader economic vision.
“Our administration is committed to transforming Anambra into Africa’s Silicon Valley. This vision is driven not by politics but by a clear and strategic imperative to secure the future of our state and its people.”
SID CEO Okoli said the state had already reached 264,000 beneficiaries under its 1 Million Anambra Digital Tribe initiative, which aims to equip one million residents with digital skills by 2030.
More than 111 startups had previously benefited from SID’s incubation programmes, bringing the cumulative number of funded startups to over 190 enterprises.
