The annual competition invites founders and co-founders of innovative agribusiness ventures to compete for a $160,000 prize pool, mentorship opportunities, and investor exposure.

Organisers say the initiative aims to support youth-led businesses working across the agrifood value chain, from farming and food processing to climate-smart agriculture, logistics, agri-tech, and nutrition-focused solutions. The programme is backed by GoGettaz Africa, a youth entrepreneurship platform linked to the Africa Food Systems Forum.

$50,000 Grand Prizes Up for Grabs

The competition will award two $50,000 grand prizes to outstanding male and female agripreneurs. Organisers will also distribute additional impact awards to startups showing strong performance in areas such as food security, climate resilience, innovation, gender inclusion, and rural job creation.

According to information published by GoGettaz Africa, finalists will gain more than cash rewards. Selected entrepreneurs will receive mentorship, training, networking opportunities, and introductions to investors and industry leaders. Top finalists are also expected to pitch their businesses live during the Africa Food Systems Forum later this year.

Applications for the 2026 edition are currently open to entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 who are citizens of African Union member states. Applicants must also be founders or co-founders of legally registered agribusiness ventures operating within Africa.

Focus on Innovation and Food Security

GoGettaz organisers say this year’s competition will place attention on businesses tackling food insecurity, youth unemployment, environmental challenges, and access to nutritious food through scalable business models. The initiative continues to position agriculture as a viable economic pathway for young Africans seeking to build sustainable enterprises.

The programme has grown steadily since its launch in 2019, attracting entrepreneurs from across Africa and across sectors. Past finalists have presented solutions ranging from renewable-energy-powered food-processing systems to AI-enabled agricultural platforms and eco-friendly production ventures.

Deadline Nears for Applicants

Entrepreneurs interested in the competition are encouraged to submit their applications before the announced June 2026 deadline. Organisers are also urging applicants to join the wider GoGettaz community platform, which offers access to training resources, business support, and collaboration opportunities for agrifood innovators across Africa.

The GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize Competition has become one of Africa’s most visible agribusiness competitions for youth founders, providing a platform for startups seeking funding, partnerships, and continental exposure in the fast-growing agrifood sector.
