The initiative targets founders working in sectors such as AgriTech, FinTech, HealthTech, GovTech, CleanTech, education, AI, and other innovation-driven industries. Beyond funding, the programme promises technical deployment support and access to networks spanning governments, development finance institutions, and policy stakeholders across Africa.

Funding Beyond Pitch Decks

The fund arrives at a time when African startups continue to face funding gaps despite growing innovation activity across the continent. Many founders can build products and attract users yet struggle to deploy solutions at scale within public institutions and underserved communities.

According to the Innovation and Transformation Centre, Apex VC Fund focuses on ventures that are ready for execution and expansion rather than startups built only for demonstrations or pitch competitions. The organisation says it wants founders who understand local challenges and can deploy practical solutions across African markets.

The centre noted that its venture capital arm operates with a founder-first approach, assessing resilience, execution capacity, market understanding, and long-term impact potential. It also stated that support will extend beyond financing to include customer acquisition strategy, leadership support, fundraising guidance, governance advisory, and market access opportunities.

Pan-African Access for Early-Stage Startups

Applications are open to for-profit startups from across Africa operating at seed or early stage level. The programme is sector-agnostic but places attention on ventures solving pressing social and economic challenges through technology.

The Innovation and Transformation Centre says the Apex VC Fund forms part of its broader mission to accelerate African innovation while connecting founders to policy institutions, investors, and technical experts. The organisation also aims to support 1,000 African startups by 2030 through its innovation ecosystem initiatives.

Founders selected for the programme will gain exposure to regional and global investor networks, including development partners, venture capital firms, and public sector stakeholders. The Centre says this structure can help startups move from pilot stage into wider adoption across sectors and communities.

Africa’s Startup Funding Push Continues

The announcement comes amid renewed conversations around startup financing in Africa, especially for founders outside the continent’s largest venture capital hubs. Industry reports continue to show that access to early-stage funding remains uneven across many African markets, even as innovation activity rises.

With Apex VC Fund now accepting applications, the Innovation and Transformation Centre is positioning itself as one of the emerging platforms seeking to bridge the gap between innovation and large-scale deployment in Africa’s growing tech ecosystem.

Applications for the Apex VC Fund are currently open through the Centre’s official venture capital portal.

Adey Studio positions itself as “the operating system for creative teams”, a single workspace to find, create, review, and deliver brand and campaign media and the company is building a unified layer on top of today’s scattered creative stack (storage, review tools, AI tools, and production workflows), rather than replacing every tool outright.
