Founded in 1894, FirstBank operates across multiple African markets and serves millions of customers through an extensive banking network. The graduate trainee initiative provides participants with exposure to modern banking operations, customer service, financial products, digital banking, and business development functions.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to graduates who meet the bank’s academic and professional requirements. Applicants in Nigeria must be no older than 27 years by 30 June 2026 and must possess at least five credits in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, including English Language and Mathematics. Candidates must also hold at least a Second Class Honours Lower Division degree or an HND with Upper Credit. Completion of the National Youth Service Corps programme on or before 30 June 2026 is also required.

Beyond academic qualifications, FirstBank is looking for candidates with strong communication skills, analytical thinking, interpersonal competence, innovation, and a results-focused mindset. Teamwork and problem-solving capabilities are also listed among the qualities sought by the bank.

Training, Career Growth and Benefits

Selected trainees will undergo professional development programmes to strengthen their technical and leadership capabilities. Participants will also gain exposure to various banking functions while building networks with professionals across the organisation. The programme offers a competitive salary package alongside opportunities for career progression within the FirstBank Group.

Industry observers view graduate trainee programmes as valuable entry points for young professionals because they combine formal training with real workplace experience. Such programmes often help graduates develop practical skills while positioning them for permanent employment opportunities.

Application Deadline

Interested candidates can submit their applications through FirstBank’s recruitment platform before the closing date of 28 June 2026. The bank encourages qualified graduates from its African markets to apply and take advantage of the opportunity to begin a professional career in banking.
