The programme will award multiple grants of up to $15,000 to youth-led startups and community projects that create measurable impact worldwide. Organisers say the initiative aims to support young innovators already running projects that address urgent social or environmental issues.
Funding and Global Exposure on Offer
Social Shifters, a Scotland-based non-profit organisation, launched the challenge to help young founders expand their work through funding, mentorship, networking opportunities and international exposure. The programme also connects applicants to learning resources and a global community of social entrepreneurs.
According to the organisers, eligible applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old and must hold clear decision-making authority within their startup or project. Entries must also demonstrate measurable social impact and align with at least one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The challenge is open to projects from any country, provided they are youth-led and already operational. Organisers say the competition is intended for founders who have moved beyond the idea stage and are already delivering solutions in their communities.
Application Timeline Released
Applications officially open on 1 June 2026, with the submission deadline on 31 August 2026 at 5 pm UTC. The evaluation process will continue through September and October, followed by finalist announcements later in October.
Finalists will receive pitch coaching before the competition finals begin in November. Winning founders are expected to be announced in December 2026.
Social Shifters encourages interested applicants to register early to access launch events and guidance materials that help founders strengthen their submissions before the deadline.
Focus on Youth-Driven Impact
The organisation says the initiative reflects growing international interest in youth entrepreneurship and grassroots innovation, particularly in areas such as climate action, education, public health, financial inclusion and community development.
Past editions of the programme have supported projects ranging from environmental technology startups to affordable healthcare and mobility solutions. Organisers say participants also gain access to future fellowships, paid opportunities and professional networks beyond the competition itself.
Social Shifters operates as a regulated Scottish charity focused on supporting young leaders and innovators working to solve social and environmental challenges globally.
